01 Data Collected
When you create an account, AstroJew stores:
- your last name and first name;
- your username;
- your email address;
- your password, stored only in hashed form (never in plain text);
- your city, address and country;
- your phone number (optional);
- the account type (institution or individual) and the optional message entered at registration.
When you use the website:
- preferences and customization: language, logo, displayed titles and texts, colors, fonts and display options;
- addresses or places searched to calculate times;
- subscription information: status, PayPal subscription ID, trial period and related dates;
- technical data: IP address, browser type, login date and time, server technical logs.
02 Use of Data
This data is used to:
- create and manage your account;
- authenticate you and maintain your session;
- calculate and display times (zmanim) for the chosen location;
- customize the website display;
- manage the trial period and subscriptions;
- send account-related emails (for example the welcome email);
- keep the website secure, prevent abuse and diagnose errors;
- respond to support requests;
- measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns (Google Ads).
AstroJew does not sell your personal data.
03 PayPal Payments
Subscriptions are paid through PayPal. Your payment details are entered directly on PayPal: AstroJew never receives or stores your card numbers.
AstroJew only keeps your subscription ID and its status, provided by PayPal, in order to activate and verify your access.
Payment processing by PayPal is governed by PayPal's privacy policy.
04 Cookies
The website uses the following cookies:
- session cookie: keeps you logged in and remembers your language; it is deleted when you close your browser;
- "user_id" cookie: a technical identifier kept for up to one year, used to recognize your browser and remember your preferences, even if you are not logged in;
- Google Ads (gtag.js tag): cookies set by Google to measure advertising conversions;
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features (login, preferences) may then stop working.
05 Data Sharing
Your data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the website:
- o2switch: hosting of the website and database;
- PayPal: payments and subscription management;
- Google: Google Ads tag (advertising conversion measurement);
- jsDelivr: delivery of a charting library; this service receives the browser's IP address when it loads;
- Nominatim (OpenStreetMap): converting the coordinates of the chosen location into a city name; the request is sent by the AstroJew server, so OpenStreetMap does not receive your IP address.
Your data may also be disclosed when required by law.
06 Data Retention
- Active account: data is kept as long as the account exists;
- Deleted account: data is erased from the database within 30 days of the deletion request, unless the law requires otherwise;
- Subscription data: for the duration of the subscription, then as long as necessary to meet accounting and legal obligations;
- Technical logs: for a limited period, according to the host's log rotation;
- "user_id" cookie: one year maximum.
07 Security
AstroJew takes measures to protect your data:
- passwords protected by hashing, never stored in plain text;
- encrypted connection (HTTPS);
- access to the administration area and database restricted to the publisher;
- secured queries against unauthorized access and injection.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

09 International Transfers
AstroJew is operated from Israel. The website and its database are hosted in France by o2switch.
Some service providers (including PayPal, Google and jsDelivr) may process data in other countries, particularly the United States. These transfers take place under the safeguards offered by these providers.
Israel benefits from an adequacy decision of the European Commission, which recognizes an adequate level of data protection.
